White line on a print
Two minutes and one test print. Bleed first, Fine Adjust second, one number at a time.
Which edge is it on?
Hold the strip so the words read normally. Top is above the first photo. Bottom is below the last photo. Left and right are the long sides. Remember which edge has the line. You need it in Step 3.
Step 1: Open the printer settings
- Go to the main screen, the one with the big Start Booth button.
- Click Global Settings, top right corner (boxed in red).
- In the printer list, double-click the DNP printer.
- A window called DNP Printer Setup opens. Two boxes matter: Bleed and Fine Adjust (boxed in red).
Done when: you can see the Bleed box with a number in it, usually 8.
Step 2: Raise Bleed first
- In Bleed, change the number to 16.
- Click OK.
- Print a test.
Bleed makes the picture a little bigger on all four sides. Most white lines are gone after this. Line gone? Stop here.
Step 3: Still there? Use Fine Adjust
Fine Adjust slides the whole picture on the paper. The picture above shows the sheet the way it leaves the printer: the two strips lie on their side.
- Horizontal slides along the strip. It fixes the strip's top or bottom.
- Vertical slides across the strip. It fixes the strip's left or right side.
Find your edge in the table. Change only that box, by 10. Click OK. Print a test.

- Line smaller but still there? Change the same box by another 10 the same way.
- Line got bigger? You went the wrong way. Change it 20 the other way.
- A gap opened on the opposite edge? Put the number back where it was and raise Bleed to 24 instead.
4x6 prints (not strips): top and bottom use Vertical, left and right use Horizontal.
Done when: a test print has no white line on any edge.
Rules
- Change one number at a time. Test print after every change.
- Do not touch Resolution, Laminate, Multi-cut or Rotate Output. They do not fix white lines.
- Bleed above 30 means something else is wrong. Open the printer and check the paper roll is seated straight.
- Lost track? Click Restore Defaults, set Bleed to 16, start again.
- Text a photo of the before and after prints to Andrew.
Notes
Directions come from Darkroom Software's Help Center ("Adjusting the Alignment with DNP DS40, RX-1, and DS620" and "Troubleshooting white lines on the edge of prints"). Darkroom's guidance: Bleed 15 to 20 is normal, above 30 check paper loading. Bleed and Fine Adjust are Darkroom Booth settings; the DNP DS-RX1HS driver has no position or bleed control of its own.
